When Superbad catapulted Jonah Hill onto the spotlight, few of us probably could have ever imagined the actor/director would one day become a tastemaker/designer for a company with as much clout as adidas. But after nailing the attitude/feeling and style of his period piece, Mid90s, it seems he knows one decade pretty darn well.
It is with that mid-90s and skateboarding ethos that Jonah Hill brings you his take on the Superstar. With bold and pronounced Three Stripes on the mid-panels and thick laces — both of which have roots in the B-Boy scene of the ’80s as well as in skate culture to follow, the sneaker is constructed with a white full-grain leather upper, resting atop an off -white rubber sole. Additional accents, all absent from the original iconic silhouette, include “JH” and “Superstar” stitching in Jonah’s handwriting, and a lion embroidered on the back of the tongue., an ode to the personalization people gave to their shoes back in the day... an ode to one of his tattoos.
